'Rosacea is a chronic skin problem that is not well understood' and Characteristically affects people with pale skin, blue eyes and generally starts in middle age. 'No one knows the exact cause of rosacea at this stage'. We know that it is aggravated by exposure to the sun, heat, warm drinks and alcohol..

First, we must explain that we have to address the chronic deficiency of vitamin A in the skin which is a major contributor to Rosacea. It is easier to treat the skin with retinyl palmitate product as it is gentle on the skin yet very effective. The lowest dose is found in the AVST Moisteriser 1 and AVST Gel in the Skin EssentiA® Range. Start low and go slow by gradually increasing the level of vitamin A to AVST Moisteriser 2, 3, 4, and then 5.

Rosacea is an ideal to treat with an Alpha Hydroxy Cream at the same time as the vitamin A. The vitamin A should be used first in preparation and then add the Alpha Hydroxy Cream with a low pH. Many people will find that if they use an AH toner, then the skin stings quite considerably. If this is tolerable then they should persist in using it. We suggest using an AH cream (Environ™ Alpha Hudroxy Cream) once a day. As the skin improves the frequency can be reduced to about three times a week. After a while AH may even be stopped.

This will generally be a sufficient treatment for mild Rosacea, but it may take several months before the skin is comfortable.
